Alongside the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei health insurance scheme, Toi Ora offers a range of resources and tools to support you and your whānau in attaining wellbeing a-wairua, a-tinana, a-hinengaro, a-whānau.

As part of the overarching Toi Ora kaupapa, Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei offers a health insurance programme for all hapū registered members living in New Zealand.

    All nib Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei members are entitled to:

    • An Eye Exam worth $60
    • A $250 optical appliance benefit for two pairs of glasses from Specsavers $299 range at no extra cost
    • Alternatively, you can use your $250 policy benefit towards the cost of any prescription sunglasses or contact lenses.


      *This Specsavers offer is available once per policy year and up to the benefit limits. Offer is available to eligible Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei members and includes single vision lenses only.

  • Clearhead (Mental Health) Subscription Offering

    Clearhead is a platform designed to help you tackle your mental health by teaching resilience with proactive mental health tools and techniques. In the case that you need professional help, the platform uses wellbeing data to connect you with the right help when you need it. Clearhead offers a network of therapists, who can support you, your friends and whānau when you need it, online or in person.

    This is available to you through the Mental Health benefit included in your nib policy. If you have at least $80 still available under this benefit, nib will be able to raise a claim against your policy to create a Clearhead portal subscription available to you at no additional cost .

Everday Option Overview of Features, Benefits and Limits

The Everyday Option is great for the basic day-to-day health costs, like visiting the dentist or GP, getting new prescription glasses or contact lenses, or no-referral physio.

With 100% back on claims, this option helps to keep your pockets happy, and keep you healthy too. You won’t pay any excess for this option.

Summary of everyday option features

  • Summary:

    Covers general and preventative dental treatments, including examination, cleaning and scaling, fillings, associated x-rays and removal of teeth (except wisdom teeth).

    Limits:

    Up to $1,000 each policy year

  • Summary

    Covers cost of prescription glasses and contact lenses.

    Limit:

    Up to $250 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers cost of physiotherapy treatment.

    Limit:

    Up to $100 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers cost of GP consultations, cervical screening by a GP and nurse practitioner consultations.

    Limit:

    Up to $350 each policy year
  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of dietitian and / or nutritionist consultations

    Limit:

    Up to $300 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of pharmaceutical prescriptions; and non-prescription bowel screening kits.

    Limit:

    No limit for each prescription item, up to $60 per bowel screening kit, up to $300 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of vaccinations.

    Limit:

    Up to $500 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of consultations and treatment provided by a Rongoā practitioner.

    Limit:

    Up to $500 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of podiatry treatment.

    Limit:

    Up to $40 per visit, up to $250 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of osteopathy treatment and related x-rays.

    Limit:

    Up to $40 per visit, up to $250 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of audiometric tests and audiology treatment.

    Limit:

    Up to $250 each policy year for treatment, and up to $250 each policy yearfor tests

Specialist Option Overview of Features, Benefits and Limits

The Specialist Option covers you for specialist consultations and diagnostic procedures that don’t result in hospitalisation.

You won’t pay any excess for this option.

Summary of specialist option features

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of registered specialist consultations, after referral by a GP or registered specialist, even when the registered specialist consultations do not relate to a private surgical or non-surgical treatment.

    Limits:

    No limits on each consultation No limits on each policy year

  • Summary

    Covers the cost of diagnostic investigations, after referral by a GP or registered specialist, even when the diagnostic investigations do not relate to a private surgical or non-surgical treatment.

    Limit:

    Up to $3,000 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of counsellors, alcohol and/or addiction services, psychiatrist/psychologist consultations and related prescriptions.

    Limit:

    Up to $2,000 each policy year

  • Summary:

    Covers the cost of cardiac investigation after referral by a GP or registered specialist, even when cardiac investigations do not relate to a private surgical or non-surgical treatment.

    Up to $60,000 each policy year
  • Summary:

    Covers costs of surveillance testing after referral by a GP or Registered Specialist. Also covers the following health screening tests:

    • Bone screening
    • Bowel screening
    • Breast screening
    • Heart screening
    • Prostate screening
    • Eye test and / or visual fields tests
    • Hearing tests and Mole mapping

    Limit:

    Up to $1,500 each policy year
